This is a warning. Don't EVER STAY AT THE CASTLE AT SILVER LAKE BED & BREAKFAST. Lies, Lies and more lies. Talk about FALSE ADVERTISING. We stayed at one of the Villas. It is advertised as having: Dishwasher (not), Washer (not), Dryer (not), Ice machine??? (whatever..there is ice in the frig) and spectacular sunset views over the lake. Well that is true...it is pretty. Also, they have Dish Network satellite TV...but only shopping channels and exercise shows are available. Not even news or weather channel. Seriously. There's not much to do on the island period, but after dark....there is NOTHING. What else is there to do but put on the tube and maybe read a book...Thank GOD I brought a couple of my own books. I'm surprised they didn't advertise a library too! Stay away...find a no tell motel...you'll be better off. Remember the name, Castle at Silver Lake, Ocracoke, NC (Outer Banks)

Sounds like you didn't like the entire island of Ocracoke. It is not for everyone and yes, it is quiet.
But, that is one main reason people love it--you can truly get away.
I have stayed at the Castle and loved it, had a great experience. My tv worked fine, I read, shopped, etc. The breakfast was fantastic.
