FINALLY, a sunny day @ Myrtle Beach

Finally, we've had a sunny day at the beach (of course the day before we are leaving). We've gone for a nice walk and next we are off shopping.
Don't you love Joe's hair here??

This is where we are staying (our's is 3rd floor next to the round cover over the indoor/outdoor pool.

Various photos from our walk on the beach. Only upper 50's at this point so even though quite beautiful, it was COLD!

Hopefully tomorrow, we will finally have some sun so that I can get some nice photos.

Day 4 at the Beach: a.m.

The area between Oak Island & Holden Beach is only about 100 yards.

The dredger between Oak Island & Holden Beach trying to undo some of the damage done by Tropical storm Hannah 3 weeks ago.

A lone crane sits resting in the Atlantic.

A flock of seagulls camped out on the beach outside the house.

Day 4 started with heavy overcast skies.

Tropical storm Hannah did a number along the eastern end of the island with lots of beach erosion.  In some places, as you can see by the photos below, the beach access walks from some of the homes empty into the ocean rather than the beach as they did just 4 weeks ago.  Some of the access walks collapsed into the ocean and have been or are being rebuilt.  At this point on the beach, the erosion of the dunes is massive with 8-10 ft. dunes being cut in half.

Some of the homes on the eastern end of the island on the inlet side are VERY nice.

Day 2 at Holden Beach

Late afternoon on the day we arrived (check in is not until 3pm)  By the time we were all unpacked, it was after 5pm.  Beautiful view of the ocean from the front porch of the house.

Joe making a phone call as soon as we are unpacked (of course....he's always on the phone)

Our view at dinner from the front porch....nice huh?...and the food was good too!

Day 2: Sunrise on Sunday morning.  Yes I was up before it came up....making coffee, checking email, posting...and then snapping a few photos.

Enjoy your day...I know I will!

Day 1 at Holden Beach

We left home this morning about 11a.m. to go to the beach for a week.  Fortunately the Low weather front has moved on ashore and is moving north and Tropical storm Kyle is off the coast
but a couple of hundred miles away so all the coast is getting today is heavy surf and higher than normal tides.  That should be off the cost of New England by tomorrow morning and blue skies are forecast.   I'll pull out the camera as soon as we are unpacked and walk down to the beach.
Until then, we'll just relax on the porch and look at the ocean.
